Thirunageswaram Lord Oppiliappan Temple: Thirunageswaram is a famous place in the state of Tamil Nadu and near this place is present Lord Uppiliappan temple that attracts many devotees. This Thirunageswaram is about 250 km from Chennai and this temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu is known. This temple is famous for being one of the 108 divyadesams of Lord Maha Vishnu. This temple was first built by Medival Cholas of 8th century and Nayaks of Thanjavur also played their role later in building this temple in the Dravidian style of architecture. It is important to mention that Moolavar in this temple is Lord Uppiliappan and Urchavar is Lord Ponappan. Goddess Bhooma Devi is worshipped here. Popular saints such as nammazhwar, thirunangai azhwar etc have praised the Lord of this temple.

People come in huge numbers during the brahmmotsavam in this temple of Lord Vishnu and this is celebrated in the months of Purattasi, Aipasi and in Panguni. One important piece of information is Goddess Bhooma Devi was born here. It is superb to mention that on each 'Thiruvonam' star day on every month people visiting this temple could see special pooja done with aganda deepam and long deepam. It is believed that Lord Vishnu visited sage Markandeya on a Thiruvonam star day of Panguni month and sought the hand of this sage daughter. Hence the above special pooja is done every month on that star day.

It is interesting to note that the nivedhanams made in this temple doesn't have salt in it. People coming to this temple for the first time would be surprised to see Goddess Bhooma Devi present right side of the Lord Vishnu as she was born here. In this aspect this temple differs from other Lord Vishnu temples. This amazing temple of Lord Vishnu is opened from morning 6 am to 1 pm and then from 4 pm till 9 pm.
