Chennai Metro Rail has completed its tunnel from Nehru Park to Egmore, a distance of 948 meters. This work which was done by a tunnel boring machine (TBM) was launched in July 2012.

Seat belts compulsory from today

From today, police will from Monday pull over and book motorists not using their seat belts, with the authorities deciding to enforce one of the few remaining rules that so far went unchecked.

The Chennai Metropolitan Transport Corporation will introduce smart cards for travel in their buses. Trials will be conducted on Adyar & OMR routes. 6000 ETM (Electronic Ticketing Machines) has been ordered.
