Bannari Amman Temple of Sathyamangalam: Located on NH 209 near Sathyamangalam in Tamil Nadu is the Goddess Bannari Amman temple that attracts many devotees. This Sathyamangalam is at a distance of about 65 km from Erode is well known. This temple was built around 300 years ago and it faces west. Goddess Mariamman is the main deity in this temple has got great powers and she is a form of Goddess Durga or Goddess Shakthi. It must me noted that the deity is swayambumurthi. It is important to mention that in the month of Panguni or March - April Kundam festival is celebrated superbly in this temple of Goddes Bannari Amman and huge numbers of people visit this temple on this festival. It is important to note that on Thursdays pooja with turmeric water is done here. The ‘Thiruvilakku Pooja’ done by the women on Friday evenings is superb.

It is believed that a deity protected traders from Kerala who travelled through this place to Mysore and this deity fascinated by the beautiful surroundings decided to stay in this place to protect the devotees. A temple was built in this place and Goddess Bannari Mariamman is worshipped here since then. In the initial stages there was only a shed for this Goddess and then tiled roof came into being. After some years gopuram was constructed above the sanctum. It was in the year 1967 Shobana mandapam or hall was constructed and it is superb to mention that this hall as got 24 pillars with magnificent carvings.

One interesting point to note is in this temple instead of sacred vibhuthi sand of ant hill is given as Prasad for the devotees. This amazing temple of Goddess Bannari Amman is opened everyday for the sake of the devotees from morning 6 am to 12:30 pm and from the evening 4:30 pm till 8:30 pm.
