Amavasya - All you need to know!
A better focus on Ammavasai and its significance
The very first day of waxing and waning of the moon is called Ammavasai. This is the first thithi of moon's passage. On this day, as known to everyone, the moon remains invisible. In spite of considering this day to be auspicious, events like marriage or other good deeds are not done on this day..
Malamasam
Malamasam is a month when two Ammavasai falls in the same month. It happens for every once in 18 years.
Shanthi Pooja for babies born on Ammavasai
For babies born on Ammavasai, a Shanthi Pooja has to be performed without which the baby's life when grown up will be disorderly, claims the book Shanti Kusumakaram.
Why should you not do any auspicious activities on this day?
Both sun and moon fall in line on this day of Ammavasai, and either of them falls to be on the same Rasi and thus their magnetic force gets its peak. This force has its influence on humans.
Significance and believes about Ammavasai
Ammavasai is considered ideal for meditating. Full moon day as well as the no moon day are considered to have special significance, according to Hindu mythology. People also carry out fasting on Ammavasai as it is believed that our prayers will be answered if we do so.
