LPG subsidy cut off to 7 lakh consumers

The Central Government is taking various steps to curb the LPG subsidy. By directly transferring subsidy to cooking gas consumers account, the state oil companies have been able to weed out about 3.25 crore duplicate or inactive consumers, enlarging subsidy saving.
Funds transactions can henceforth be done using smartphones. The Reserve Bank of India is soon set to launch this facility, said RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan.
