Plans to float short term tenders for duty free stores in the Chennai Airport have been scrapped. The plan, made by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), was scrapped after there were no applications for the project.

Onions still expensive in the city

Onion prices have now reached Rs. 70 per kg. Wholesale prices for the vegetable from Nashik and other parts of Maharashtra are Rs. 60 per kg.

Statue of actor Sivaji to be shifted

The State government on Tuesday informed the Madras High Court that the statue of thespian Sivaji Ganesan, presently located on Kamarajar Salai along the Marina Beach here. It would be shifted and installed at the new memorial proposed to construct soon.
Metro waters revenue up!

Chennai Metro water has registered an increase of Rs.76 crore in its revenue through water and sewerage tax and charges collection during 2014-15 as compared to the previous year.
The state transport commissioner Satyabrata Sahoo will be issued with a statutory notice as per orders by the Madras high court. The notice directs him to appear for it on 8th of October.
State minister of tourism S P Shanmuganathan said in the assembly on Wednesday that boathouses in Muttukadu and Mudaliyarkuppam will get a facelift at a cost of Rs 4.70 crore this year.
The Madras High Court gas expressed concern over the Pallikaranai marshland’s shrinking size. It has directed the government to revert with details such as encroachment and dumping and burning of garbage.
