The ceremony commenced on February 25th with Yagasala poojas which ended with the Kumbhabishegam on 28th February. The Kalasams (pots) containing holy water were carried in a procession and after the ceremony the holy water was sprinkled on the devotees as blessings.

Chennai Mayor Mr. M. Subramanian, HR & CE Minister, and Mr. Nalli Kuppusamy Chetty were among the few personalities who took part.

Thousands of devotees thronged in and around the temple to visit this holy ceremony and the whole of Mylapore was filled in a festive mood.
