Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) will be carrying out major pipework on Kellis Balford Road in the Anna Nagar zone (Zone 8), resulting in a 36-hour water supply disruption across several parts of the city. The work will take place from 8:00 AM on Saturday, May 3, to 8:00 PM on Sunday, May 4.
According to Chennai Metro Water, the pipework will affect the Kilpauk Water Distribution Station, disrupting supply in five key city zones:
- Zone 4 (Tondiarpet)
- Zone 5 (Royapuram)
- Zone 6 (Thiru.Vi.Ka Nagar)
- Zone 8 (Anna Nagar)
- Zone 9 (Teynampet)
Areas Affected:
- Zone 4 (Tondiarpet): Complete disruption of water supply.
- Zone 5 (Royapuram): Areas like Purasaivakkam, Periyamedu, Sowcarpet, Egmore, and Chintadripet will face disruption.
- Zone 6 (Thiru.Vi.Ka Nagar) & Zone 8 (Anna Nagar): Areas including Otteri, Ayanavaram, Perambur, Sembium, Kilpauk, Villivakkam, and Kellis.
- Zone 9 (Teynampet): Areas such as Triplicane (Thiruvallikeni) will also be affected.
Alternative Arrangements:
Metro Water has assured residents that water tankers and street-level water pipes will be used to supply water to areas facing disruption or experiencing low water pressure. Residents are advised to store sufficient drinking water in advance for essential needs.
Emergency Services Available:
In case of emergencies, residents can register on the Chennai Metro Water website to request water tankers.
Public Advisory:
Metro Water has requested the public to use water judiciously during this period. Normal water supply is expected to resume after the completion of the scheduled maintenance work.
