In 2024, about 6000 students were enrolled in the corporation schools in Chennai. In 2025, more than twice the number from the last year has been enrolled in the corporation schools in the city. Sounds incredible right!!
Information is that GCC has enrolled as many as13800 students in the corporation schools this year. From 1st of March a door-to-door admission process has been carried out by the teachers to increase the enrolment in the corporation schools in Chennai. Point to be noted is that at the end of April month 13800 students have been enrolled in the corporation schools. This was mentioned by Mr. D. Viswanathan, chairman, standing committee (education). He is now hoping that the number would reach 2000 by June month end.
At each of the 141 schools, a physical education teacher would be appointed on a temporary basis. It must be taken into account that those teachers who train middle school students would receive Rs 15000 per month. Higher secondary school teachers would receive Rs 18000 per month.
