Whats going to happen regarding the engineering curriculum in TN?

A new engineering curriculum to suit the Electric Vehicle industry is on cards now!!

The news is that the government of Tamil Nadu would help the electric mobility players to invest in Tamil Nadu. It is brought out that the electric vehicle push would make it possible for TN to reach its goal of $ 1 trillion economy by the year 2030.

It was later revealed by Mr. Hans Raj Verma, IAS and CMD of TNIIC, Chennai that the city is already EV capital of the nation and the TN government plays a huge role in supporting EV companies to set up shops in the state. He confirmed that total support would be provided for this in every possible manner. On Friday, TN Technology Development and Promotion Centre of CII organised EV Summit 2022 and Mr. Hans Raj Verma made his presence felt there.

It is noteworthy that TN has got 2 auto and electronic industrial clusters like Sriperumbudur near Chennai and an emerging cluster consisting of Hosur-Dharmapuri- Krishnagiri. It is sensational to note that since the launch of 2019 EV policy the state of TN has attracted a mammoth amount of Rs 20000 crores regarding investments and has created 50000 jobs.

As per Mr. Ambrin Moideen, vice-president, economic analysis and policy, Guidance TN, it was clear that Tamil Nadu has undertaken investment promotion plus facilitation activities to attract investors in EV manufacturing value chain for establishing units in the state. He added that the TN government has initiated to re-design the curriculum of engineering as well as polytechnic courses to suit the EV manufacturers in Tamil Nadu. 

It is worth mentioning that the Indian automobile industry is 5th largest in the world now and by 2030 it would become third largest. The EV sector is expected to expand at a CAGR of 36percent and this was according to India Energy Storage Alliance.
