‘Kathiri Veyil’ (the severest part of summer) comes to an end tomorrow!

The scorching sun experienced by the entire state of Tamil Nadu over the last 20 days is coming to an end tomorrow.

However, it is expected that the hot summer will continue till the onset of south-west monsoon.

Generally, people could easily manage the severity of summer over the last several years. However, summer has been extraordinarily severe in the last few years

Last year, the period of ‘kathiri veyil’ started on 4th May. It was indeed very hot and the temperature on 31st May touched a high of 113 degrees fahrenheit.

‘Kathiri veyil’ period started on 4th May this year as well. It is set to end tomorrow. During the ‘kathiri veyil’ period, the average temperature was between 100 & 110 Degrees fahrenheit and the summer was unbearable.

It is worth noting that the highest temperature recorded this year in Gujarat was 112 degree fahrenheit; in Jaipur, it was 111 digress fahrenheit. In Nagpur, it was 110 degrees fahrenheit. In Tamil Nadu, it was 110 degrees fahrenheit day-before-yesterday.

Currently, dry climate exists in Tamil Nadu. This is supposed to continue. The depression that formed in the Bay of Bengal last week became weakened the prospects of rain vanished.

The temperature has touched 108 degrees fahrenheit over the last 2 days and a peak of 110 degrees fahrenheit was experienced day-before-yesterday. In Vellore, it was 102 degrees yesterday. In Karur, Trichy, Thirunelveli, and Chennai, it was 102 degrees fahrenheit.

Kathiri veyil is set to end tomorrow. However, dry climate will continue as per Chennai meteorology report. It is expected that Tamil Nadu will experience a temperature of 108 degree fahrenheit till 30th May.

With the onset of south-west monsoon in Kerala in early June, the serity of summer in Tamil Nadu is likely to subside.
