Heavy Rain Forecast: Schools to Remain Closed on November 18
Due to continuous heavy rainfall, a holiday has been declared for schools in Cuddalore and Villupuram districts today (November 18).
The Chennai Meteorological Department has announced that while a low-pressure area is already active in the Bay of Bengal, another low-pressure area is likely to form on November 22. As a result, heavy rain is expected today in the districts of Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi, and Theni.
Heavy rain triggered by the low-pressure system continues to lash Cuddalore and Villupuram, prompting authorities to declare a holiday for schools only in these two districts.
Similarly, schools and colleges in Puducherry and Karaikal have also been given a holiday today (November 18) due to the persistent heavy rainfall.
Authorities have advised the public to stay alert and follow local weather updates.
