Cheran’s Classic Autograph Returns to Theatres in a Digitally Remastered Edition
Two decades after its emotional storytelling touched millions, Cheran’s iconic romantic drama Autograph is returning to theatres in a fully remastered version. The film, which originally released on February 20, 2004, will re-hit screens across Tamil Nadu from November 14.
The re-release, originally planned for May 2025, was delayed but has now been fully restored with enhanced visuals and sound to meet modern cinematic standards while preserving the soul of the original.
Autograph follows the journey of Senthil Kumar, an advertising professional who travels to invite people from his past to his wedding. His train trip becomes a walk down memory lane, revisiting first love, heartbreak, friendships, and life-changing moments—told with Cheran’s signature simplicity and emotional depth.
The film stars Gopika, Sneha, Mallika, and Kaniha, each portraying significant chapters of Senthil’s life. Upon release, Autograph became a massive success, winning four Filmfare Awards and three National Awards, with its Bharadwaj-composed songs becoming timeless hits.
The remastered edition brings back the work of a stellar technical crew, including cinematographers Ravi Varman, Vijay Milton, Dwarakanath, and Shanky Mahendran, and editors S Sathesh and J N Harsha under Dream Theatres.
Having inspired remakes in multiple languages, Autograph remains one of Tamil cinema’s most celebrated emotional journeys.
