Improving unused spaces in Chennai!!

There are 2 huge flyovers present in busy places like Alwarpet and T. Nagar in Chennai.

Now, GCC or Greater Chennai Corporation is planning to develop the areas under these flyovers and an amount of Rs 7.5 cr would be spent on this. The main objective behind this is to improve the unused spaces in Chennai and provide better facilities to the public

T. Nagar flyover:

It is now mentioned that at a cost of Rs 3.75 cr the area under the T. Nagar north Usman Road- Mahalingapuram Road junction flyover would be developed by the Chennai Corporation. Important piece of information is that in association with TNEB electric charging facilities for 2 wheelers would be set up. Not only this, dedicated parking facilities for 2 wheelers, 5 small shops to promote local business, purified drinking water facility, 8 toilets, trees, pants, decorative lights plus seating facilities for passengers, CCTV cameras,  directional signs, walkways for the visually impaired, rainwater drainage and maintenance friendly ground floor would be set up.

As per some officials from the Chennai Corporation, the U turn, auto stand and ambulance parking under the flyover would continue to function without any disruption.

Alwarpet Flyover:

At a cost of Rs 3.75 cr, the space under the TTK Road- CP. Ramaswamy Road flyover would be developed by the Chennai Corporation. It is learnt that here there would not be any electric vehicle charging facility under the flyover. There would be an organised parking facility for the 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers plus commercial shops, trees, plants, decorative lights,  seating areas, CCTV cameras and improved storm water drainage. For both these projects, tenders have been floated also and the development work would begin shortly. By this, useful, safe and green spaces would be created for commuters and the public of Chennai.
