From Homemaker to Exporter: Sushmita of Pattukottai Leads the Organic Revolution
Sushmita, a software engineer from Tarapuram, transformed her life after marriage by starting an organic food business in Pattukottai. Inspired by the desire to provide healthy food for her child, she began sourcing directly from farmers and made her first profit of just ₹70 selling strawberries.
What started small has now grown into a thriving venture - she now supplies up to 2 tons of organic products monthly, including rice, eggs, and milk, to shops across Tamil Nadu and exports to Britain and Oman.
With no initial investment and support from a buyer in Ooty, Sushmita built her business on trust, hard work, and a mission to deliver natural food at affordable prices. She actively promotes women entrepreneurship, supports farmers, and believes in the power of food as medicine.
