Chennai experienced moderate to heavy showers over the past 24 hours, with several neighbourhoods recording significant rainfall. According to official data, Thiruvotriyur registered the highest rainfall at 6 cm, topping the city’s charts.
Perambur and Thandaiyarpet followed with 5 cm each, while Basin Bridge, Korattur, Amritsar, and Anna Nagar recorded 4 cm of rainfall.
Meanwhile, areas including Nelkundram, Ennore, Vadapalani, Wimco Nagar, Nungambakkam, Ice House, Valasaravakkam, and Saligramam received 3 cm each, indicating a fairly uniform distribution of showers across the city.
The rains brought relief from humid conditions but also led to minor waterlogging in some low-lying areas. Officials have advised residents to stay updated on weather forecasts as intermittent showers are expected to continue.
