How many are aware that across Tami Nadu from April 2024 to March 2025 as many as 214580 mothers received phone calls from the early childhood development monitoring call centres?
An important disclosure has come out now from the TN Health department.
The news is that more than 2lakh mothers across Tamil Nadu have been provided with free medical advice through the 102 service.
It is known that early child development is an important part of child welfare. This includes the time period right from conception to birth, infancy time period of 0 to 1 years, and early childhood of 1 to 6 years.
In early childhood, cognitive, speech, motor, social and emotional development plays a huge role. In this situation, the TN govt has given huge importance to early childhood development. Information is that TN has been monitoring early childhood development through digital technology. The TN government has been providing personalised information and has been improving the services.
What is 102 Service exactly?
It is a 5 seater call centre that has been set up for monitoring early childhood development. Not many would be aware of the fact that this call centre has been continuously contacting pregnant mothers, postpartum mothers and mothers of children up to 2 years of age through phone. These mothers have been getting valuable medical advice etc.
What is the function of this call centre?
There is a lot of information or advice provided by the call centre regarding prenatal care, early childhood development, vaccination, various factors during pregnancy, child monitoring, healthy child rearing methods etc.
In addition to these above said functions list of children released from special infant care units is provided to these call centres. In the next step, the mothers are contacted over phones to ensure proper physical development, mental development and well being of the child etc.
