JioHotstar Launches ‘Operation Tiranga’ with Free Streaming on Independence Day
In celebration of India’s 79th Independence Day, JioHotstar has announced ‘Operation Tiranga’, a special platform-wide initiative honouring the nation’s spirit of freedom.
Under the theme ‘Tiranga Ek, Kahaniyaan Anek’, the campaign features a curated line-up of films and series that reflect the courage, sacrifice, and cultural pride symbolised by the Indian Tricolour.
Independence Day Special – Free Streaming for All
On August 15, JioHotstar will offer free, full-day access to its entire content library, making it inclusive and accessible for viewers across India. The platform’s interface will also feature a patriotic splash screen and themed collections inspired by the colours of the flag:
Saffron – Stories of courage and covert heroism (Take Off, Madras Cafe, IB71)
White – Tales of sacrifice and resilience (Salakaar, Neerja, Mangal Pandey: The Rising, Chandrashekar)
Green – Narratives rooted in cultural pride (Sarzameen, Kesari 2, Airlift)
A Blend of Entertainment & National Pride
Speaking about the initiative, Minakshi Achan, Head – Brand & Creative, JioStar, said, “Operation Tiranga celebrates Independence Day by removing all barriers to access, allowing every viewer to explore stories that reflect the courage, resilience, and identity of the nation.”
The campaign will be promoted through in-app takeovers, TV spots, outdoor ads, social media, and collaborations. It also includes a partnership with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting to raise awareness about flag etiquette.
