The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) is set to construct a new bus terminus near Vivekananda House at Marina Beach. The project, estimated at ₹1 crore, will be jointly funded through MLA Local Area Development Funds and the MP Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS).
Officials stated that the design will complement the historic coastal surroundings. The terminus will include a timekeeper room, waiting area, seating, and a feeding room for passengers. The tender process is currently underway, and construction is expected to be completed within four months.
This project follows earlier developments in 2016 when a nearby park was revamped to include a bus bay, wider footpaths, and new bus shelters. The upcoming terminus aims to enhance public transport and ease traffic congestion in the Marina area.
