Facility to pay registration charges through debit/credit cards

The state government of Tamil Nadu Department of Registration has undertaken activates to equip all the registrar offices with devices such PoS (Point of Sales) to facilitate the applicants to pay the registration charges through debit/credit cards.

There are 575 Registrar Offices in Tamil Nadu for registrations including the exchange of properties.

Several initiatives have been undertaken by the Department of Revenue to prevent the public from making payments by cash for registration charges, stamp fix charges, etc. Accordingly, arrangements have been made to pay the stamp fixing charges and registration charges above Rs. 1000 online on the internet by agreement with banks.

At the same time, the system of cash payment for the above charges by cash is still being followed when the stamp fix/registration charges are below Rs. 1000. It has been reported that in this process, lots of unaccounted money get in circulation.

In this situation, the state Department of Registration has decided to implement cashless transaction systems 100% for all payments.

For the above process, in order to facilitate payments through debit/credit cards, the Registrar Offices are to be provided with PoS devices (Point of Sales). Action has been initiated to procure PoS devices from the banks in all the 575 Registrar Offices in the state.

The officials of the Department of Registration informed that the above-proposed system is expected to be implemented by 1st February.
