CMRL to incorporate artificial aquifers
As a move to maintain all the 42 train fleets, CMRL has come up with the idea of storing excessive water at artificial aquifer intending to use it at times of shortage. The CMRL is set to create recharge well.

IGBC offers platinum rating to 14 underground metro stations
The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has rewarded all the 14 underground metro stations as inclusive of final leg of phase-1 along 45 km stretch with Platinum Rating. This is a certification.

210 Coaches for CMRL phase 2
In the phase-2 of Chennai Metro Rail project, there are going to be 210 coaches. These trains will be of 3 or 6 coaches running for about 52 km length.

Metro track smoothening to be done for reducing excessive noise
There is quite some noise produced when the metro trains ply underground across the city. To reduce this, the Chennai Metro has come up with plans to do Rail Grinding which is a process to smoothen tracks.
