In the phase-2 of Chennai Metro Rail project, there are going to be 210 coaches. These trains will be of 3 or 6 coaches running for about 52 km length.

There is quite some noise produced when the metro trains ply underground across the city. To reduce this, the Chennai Metro has come up with plans to do Rail Grinding which is a process to smoothen tracks.

There were many complaints regarding the lack of mobile connectivity and inability to get important data on mobile phones in the underground metro stations in Chennai. This lack of mobile connectivity would not be there in the near future.

If everything goes according to the plans without any delay, then by the year 2026 Chennai Metros phase-2 project would be fully operational for the public. It is well known that this phase-2 would be a huge project.

Metro trains in Chennai have been making lots of news in the recent times. The latest news is in a decade metro rail phase-2 of 118.9 km would be opened. This would connect both the suburbs in the Chennai city.

Wondering how the metro stations are likely to get named? Here is your answer: the stations are to be named after the companies that are functional in close proximities. These will generally be big brands or companies.

With the revised alignment of the Metro Phase-2 network, it is understood that the project will encompass more ground area and is going to have many stations. On the whole, there is going to be 128 stations across 118.9km network.

There was a recent article published about the Chennai Metro Rail fares stating it to be unfair charging. The Chennai Metro Rail, giving a reply to this article that got viral has clarified that they charge Rs 2.5 per kilometer.
