M. Phil. Course removed from the colleges under Sundaranar University

The Vice-chancellor of the Tirunelveli Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Mr. Bhaskar, informed that the M.Phil. Courses in the University and all the colleges affiliated to it is being removed.
A brief on this announcement:
M.Phil. Course conducted by the colleges functioning under this university is being removed from this academic year.Instead, priority will be accorded to Ph.D. (Research) courses.
This course will be of 4 years duration. In case the students are unable to continue after completing the first 2 years, they can submit a few minor thesis articles and obtain M. Phil. Degree. In case they desire to resume their courses after year to join Ph.D Course, they can directly join in the 3rd year classes.
In the present scenario, there is not much value/reception for the M.Phil Course. So, a decision is taken to encourage doing research courses while canceling the M.Phil Courses.
However, all the rules and regulations which were applicable to M.Phil Courses will also be applicable to this research (Ph.D) course as well.
