Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) updated the official website (https://www.irctc.co.in) with some new features enabling the efficient usage of the booking platform for the passengers. With this new update the bookings are made easier than before along with the checking of train tickets availability. Wait-list prediction and Live streaming of IRCTC base kitchens are the other features made available for the passengers through the new incorporated feature in the website.

Navigation and searching becomes much easier resulting in the quick booking and ticket availability checking process. Indian Railways revamped the entire catering and e-ticketing features recently enabling smart booking and payment options that were not available in the old website.

Search option:

The new IRCTC website provides easy options in its interface for navigation and searching trains that are subdivided in many categories. Now a passenger can check the availability of trains and seats along with the ticket fare without the login. Modification of journey details was reprogrammed leading to user friendly layout for the passengers.

Wait-list check:

With the new upgradation of IRCTC website passengers can see the probability of their waitlisted tickets allowing them to plan other options for the journey.  Earlier bookings were highly unpredictable in terms of waiting list categories. Now with this new update a passenger can arrange for other transport means or opt for VIKALP scheme for alternate trains if the booked ticket has the low probability of confirmation.

Payment options:

IRCTC has extended the service charge waiver for tickets booked online increasing the time period for nine more months. The exemption from payment of service charge was till August 31, 2018 and now the new upgraded rules extended the time up to March 31, 2019. IRCTC joined hands with many e-commerce payment systems such as Paytm, MobiKwik and other portals for cashbacks offers and discounts for online book ticketing.

Bulk bookings:

The updated version of IRCTC website enables a passenger to book more than six tickers with the login ID and Aadhaar number. With this a passenger can book up to 12 train tickets in a month. Linking the login ID with Aadhaar number can be easily made through clicking Aadhaar/KYC under the My profile menu.

Live streaming:

Hygiene standards and quality foods are always a big concern in Indian Railways. The new rules insists on passenger to check the IRCTC base kitchens through live streaming option enabled in the updated website. Passengers can order food by checking the menu with prices in the newly launched feature on the website.
