Yellow Alert Issued for 7 Tamil Nadu Districts Including Chennai Due to Heavy Rain
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has issued a Yellow Alert for seven districts of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, due to the likelihood of heavy rainfall today (January 24).
According to the weather bulletin, an upper air cyclonic circulation over south India is expected to bring moderate to heavy rain with thunder and lightning across parts of coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and interior districts between January 24 and January 29.
The districts under Yellow Alert are Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, and Cuddalore, where isolated heavy rainfall is likely.
Fishermen Warning:
Strong winds with speeds of up to 60 kmph are expected over the Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar, and the Comorin Sea on January 24 and 25. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea during this period.
