The Archana Patnaik, Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu, has announced key details of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, being carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
Draft Electoral Roll & Timeline
Draft electoral roll published: December 19, 2025
Claims & objections window: December 19, 2025 – January 18, 2026
Overall revision period: December 19, 2025 – February 10, 2026
Final electoral roll publication: February 17, 2026
Verification Process
Voters whose details require confirmation will receive notices from the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO). During verification, voters must submit any one of the 13 documents prescribed by the Election Commission of India. After due scrutiny, eligible voters’ names will be included in the final electoral roll.
Transparency Measures
To ensure transparency, EROs have been instructed to hold consultative meetings with recognised political parties and clearly explain the verification and revision procedures.
Voters are advised to check the draft roll, submit claims or objections within the stipulated period, and cooperate during verification to ensure inclusion in the final voter list.
