Schools & Colleges Declared Holiday Tomorrow Amid Red Alert
Cyclone Ditwah, which formed over the Bay of Bengal, weakened into a deep depression yesterday evening. Although the storm has weakened, its circulation continues to affect the north coastal regions, including Chennai, resulting in persistent heavy rainfall since last night.
Many parts of the city have been experiencing incessant rain, causing waterlogging in low-lying areas and significant traffic delays. Due to the continuous downpour, several private schools announced a half-day holiday today.
Holiday Announcement
In view of the adverse weather conditions, the District Collectors have declared a holiday tomorrow, December 2, for all schools and colleges in the following districts:
- Chennai
- Tiruvallur
- Chengalpattu
- Kanchipuram
A Red Alert has also been issued for Chennai and Tiruvallur districts, prompting authorities to intensify safety and emergency measures.
