Traffic Diversions Announced in Chennai on August 7 Due to Silent Procession by CM and Ministers

The Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) has announced traffic diversions and slow movement alerts in the city on August 7, 2025, from 8:00 AM onwards, due to a silent procession led by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Ministers, MLAs, and DMK Party members. The procession will begin at the Kalaignar Statue (Omandurar Complex) on Anna Salai and proceed to the Kalaignar Memorial near Marina Beach.

To facilitate smooth traffic flow, vehicles from War Memorial heading to Napier Bridge will be diverted via Flag Staff Road. Vehicles from Gandhi Statue towards Kamarajar Salai will be diverted at Kannagi Statue junction to Bharathi Salai. During the procession on Wallajah Salai, vehicles from Anna Salai will be diverted at Anna Statue towards Periyar Statue.

Motorists are warned of possible slow traffic on Wallajah Road, Anna Salai, Dams Road, Blackers Road, and Kamarajar Salai, and are advised to use alternate routes to avoid delays.

Motorists are requested to cooperate.
