Southern Railway to Operate 11 Special Trains for Diwali
Southern Railway has approved the operation of 11 special trains to manage the festive rush during the upcoming Diwali season.
According to railway officials, ticket bookings for express trains departing from Chennai are already full, and the waiting list on major routes has crossed 1,000 passengers. A demand study was conducted to identify the busiest routes, and special trains will be operated accordingly.
As per the proposal, special trains will run from Chennai Central to Coimbatore, Kanyakumari, Nagercoil, Chengalpattu, Thiruvananthapuram, and Ernakulam, as well as from Chennai Egmore to Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi, and from Tambaram to Nagercoil and Chengalpattu to Tirunelveli.
Railway officials said that after final approval, detailed schedules for the special trains will be announced soon.
