Setting up of a new multipurpose centre and a/c marriage hall at Royapettah in Chennai!!

One of the busiest localities in Chennai is Royapettah. Here, a new multi-purpose centre with an air-conditioned marriage hall would be established at a cost of Rs 12.37 crores. Yesterday, 9th may, the deputy chief minister Mr. Udayanidhi Stalin inaugurated the project work.

It is worth mentioning that CMDA or Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority under the Housing and Urban Development dept would construct the new multi-purpose centre in the Chepauk- Triplicane assembly constituency, plus 2 new offices for the chief minister and developmental works of libraries would be undertaken. An amount of Rs 15.61 cr would be spent for these.

On the busy Pycrofts Road in Royapettah in Chennai, a new multipurpose centre with ground floor and 3 floors would be constructed covering an area of 15408 sqft.

Various facilities at the multipurpose centre:

Information collected is that the upcoming multipurpose centre would have a 224 seater air-conditioned marriage hall, dining area, guest rooms, parking and lift facilities etc.

There is a public library at Triplicane Johny Basha Street. To upgrade or renovate this public library, a new modern chief minister`s office and new public library with ground floor and 2 floors covering an area of 4273 sqft would be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.87 crores.

In the same manner, to upgrade or renovate the public library present in Bharathi Salai in Triplicane, a new modern public library with ground floor and 2 floors of area 2420 sq ft would be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.37 cr.

Yesterday, foundation stone was laid by Mr. Udayanidhi Stalin for carrying out these 3 project works in the Chepauk- Triplicane assembly constituency.

He later inaugurated the staff quarters constructed at a cost of Rs 3.99 cr on the land belonging to Triplicane Sri Parthasarathy Temple at Saidoji Street, Chepauk and DP. Kovil Street on behalf of Hindu Religious Endowments Dept. The deputy chief minister then inaugurated 12 staff quarters built at a cost of Rs 1.87 cr and handed over the house allotment orders to the beneficiaries.

Other important personalities who participated were HR and CE minister Mr. PK. Sekarbabu, Mr. Dayanidhi Maran, MP, Chennai Mayor. R. Priya and CMDA member secretary.Mr. S. Prabhakaran etc.
