Posted on: 07/Jan/2026 12:20:33 PM

The deep low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The system originated due to an upper-air cyclonic circulation over the equatorial Indian Ocean and central parts of the southern Bay of Bengal. By early Tuesday, it strengthened into a deep low-pressure area, remaining over the same region.
