1300 sanitary workers and 500 road workers-Chennai streets to become neat and clean by this effort from GCC

In your locality, if you come across GCC workers cleaning the roads, then don’t get surprised!!
More than 10,000 tonnes of waste has been removed from the roads in Chennai. This was made possible by the mass cleaning drive started by the Greater Chennai Corporation or GCC. On Thursday, this drive was launched by the Chennai corporation commissioner, Mr. Gagandeep Singh Bedi.
It must be taken into note that the drive’s major objective was to clear garbage and debris that have been dumped on slum clearance board tenements plus on the roads, streets, vacant plots etc.
It has been mentioned by the press release from GCC that on day one at 113 spots in Chennai cleaning took place and 264 tonnes of garbage and 829 tonnes of construction waste was removed.
To carry out this cleaning drive, GCC has decided to employ as many as 1300 sanitary workers and 500 road workers. Truth is that 500 tonnes of solid waste would be removed every day by these workers and the drive would go on for a period of 10 days. It is now revealed that in the 10 days 1500 tonnes of garbage and 5000 tonnes of construction waste would be removed from the roads in Chennai.
Chennai Enviro Solutions Private Limited would be involved in this cleaning drive in north Chennai zones like Tiruvottriyur, Manali and Madhavaram etc. Urbesar Sumeet would be engaged in the cleaning drive in the zones like Teynampet, Kodambakkam, Adyar, Perungudi, Alandur, Valasaravakkam and Sholinganallur etc. In the remaining GCC zones, Chennai Corporation would directly be involved in the mass cleaning drive.
For monitoring this mass cleaning drive works, corporation engineers of various ranks have been appointed. The release had mentioned that 15 engineers including Mr. L. Nandhakumar, chief engineer (general) has been appointed for 15 zones.
