Madras High Court Allows PVR Inox to Continue Operations at Chennai Airport MLCP
The Madras High Court has directed the Airport Authority of India (AAI) to permit PVR Inox Limited to continue running its multiplex at the Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP) complex inside Chennai Airport. The order will remain in force until the Centre finalizes a policy on allowing cinema halls within airport premises.
Justice M. Dhandapani issued the order while hearing petitions challenging AAI’s June 20, 2025 letter instructing the closure of the cinema halls.
Senior counsel P. S. Raman, assisted by Arva Merchant, appeared for PVR Inox, while Additional Solicitor General A.R.L. Sundaresan represented the AAI.
The case involves AAI’s recent move to prematurely terminate the lease granted to Meenambakkam Realty Pvt. Ltd., a special purpose vehicle of Olympia Tech Park, which developed the Aero Hub. PVR Inox has a 13-year sub-licensing agreement with the SPV.
The court’s order ensures uninterrupted operations at the cinema until a central policy decision is made.
