Korukkupet - Kodungaiyur Flyover Work Resumes After Five-Month Delay

After a five-month break, the Korukkupet–Kodungaiyur flyover construction in North Chennai has resumed. The ₹105-crore project, launched in March 2023 by the Tamil Nadu Highways Department, aims to ease traffic congestion at the Korukkupet–Ezhil Nagar railway gate, where over 50,000 vehicles pass daily.
Frequent railway gate closures for goods trains — more than 30 times a day — have long caused major delays, prompting residents to demand a solution. Once completed, the new flyover will drastically cut waiting time, improve connectivity between Korukkupet and Kodungaiyur, and enhance transport efficiency across North Chennai.
