As the city of Madras/Chennai turns 386 this year, the much-awaited Madras Quiz returns as part of the Madras Week celebrations. The quiz will be conducted by well-known quizmaster Dr. Sumanth C. Raman on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 2.30 pm onwards at the MMA Auditorium, Pathari Road, off Anna Salai.
The 2025 edition is themed “Madras: Idhu Oru Thani Vibe”, capturing the city’s unique ability to embrace people from diverse backgrounds and offer each of them a space to belong. In keeping with the spirit of the theme, participants and audiences are encouraged to come dressed in ways that reflect the many moods and colours of Madras/Chennai, adding to the celebration’s distinctive flavour. Special prizes await those whose “thani vibe” truly stands out, as selected by the judges.
True to its spirit as an open quiz, there are no age restrictions and teams of two can register on the spot — family, friends or even complete strangers can come together to participate. The quiz will feature a mix of serious and fun questions, including a special round on the Murugappa Group and its close association with Madras.
Prizes worth ₹50,000 await the winners, along with the prestigious Madras Quiz rolling trophy. The top three teams will be presented with trophies from Chola MS, along with vouchers and hampers, while teams placed fourth to sixth will receive gift hampers and vouchers. Special prizes will also be awarded to the best women’s team, the best senior citizens’ team and the best school students’ team. Audience members too will have the chance to win exciting spot prizes.
