Chennai Water Supply Disruption: 48-Hour Shutdown in Thiruvottiyur & Manali Areas from 22nd
As part of the North Chennai Development Project, construction work is underway for a 1 million litre capacity underground water storage tank at the Thiruvottiyur Water Pumping Station located on Manali Kamarajar Salai. Due to this, major drinking water pipelines at the station are being replaced.
According to the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, water supply operations at both Thiruvottiyur and Manali water pumping stations will be suspended for 48 hours, from 10:00 AM on Monday (22nd) to 10:00 AM on Wednesday (24th).
Areas Affected by Water Supply Suspension
Piped drinking water supply will be temporarily stopped in the following areas under Thiruvottiyur and Manali zones:
- Kathivakkam
- Ennore
- Ernavur
- Thiruvottiyur
- Kaladipet
- Sadayan Kuppam
Public Advisory
Residents are advised to store sufficient drinking water in advance to meet their daily needs during the shutdown period.
For emergency water requirements, the public can register online for tanker water supply through the official website: cmwssb.tn.gov.in
The board has clarified that water supply through tankers, overhead tanks, and street-level distribution points in areas without direct connections or with low pressure will continue without interruption.
