The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced significant progress in the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of the voter list in Tamil Nadu. According to the latest report released on Wednesday, more than 5 crore voter verification forms have been distributed across the state, covering 78.09% of the total printed forms.
As of October 27, Tamil Nadu has 6,41,14,587 registered voters, managed by 68,467 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and 2,11,445 Booth Level Agents (BLAs). A total of 6,41,14,582 forms were printed for distribution, out of which 5,00,67,045 forms have already been handed over to voters.
In comparison, Lakshadweep has achieved 100% distribution, followed by Goa (99.99%) and Puducherry (93.04%), showing remarkable voter list update efficiency in the southern and coastal regions.
The Election Commission urged voters to verify their details and submit corrections promptly to ensure an accurate and updated electoral roll ahead of the upcoming elections.
