The news is that the art festival competitions for the school students would be held from 4th August to 28th November 2025.
A circular has been sent to all primary education officers in this regard on behalf of Directorate of School Education and Primary education.
As per the circular, it was announced that the art festival would be for the benefit of the school students studying in the government and government aided schools across Tamil Nadu. For the last 3 years, art festival competitions were held is known and winning students were given prizes and certificates etc.
In this current academic year also, the art festival competitions for the school students would be held from 4th August to 28th November. The theme for this year would be Greenery and Tradition.
Information gathered is that the competitions would be held for 5 categories as per the age like first class, second class, third to fifth class, sixth to eighth class, 9th class, 10th class, 11th class and 12th class.
The art festival competitions would have storytelling, painting, speech, disguise, Thirukural recitation, melody, folk dance, Bharatanatyam, sand sculpture, villu pattu, village dance or gramiya nadanam, comedy, polyphonic speech, pambai, udukkai, paarai, mrudangam, drums, violin, keyboard playing, nadaswaram and puppetry etc.
In phase one, the school level competitions would be held from 4th August to 18th August and district level competitions from 25th August to 29th August. From 13th October to 17th October, regional level competitions would be held and from 27th Oct to 21st Oct district level competitions would be held. From 24th November to 28th November, state level competitions would be held. Point to be noted is that kalaiyarasan and kalaiarasi awards would be given to the winners of state level competition. It is learnt that those 25 students who secure the top rank would be taken for an educational tour abroad.
