A depression was formed in the Southeast of Sri Lanka in the Bay of Bengal. This has intensified into a marked depression zone and moving towards the Tamil Nadu coast area.

S Balachandar, Director of Chennai Meteorological Department has mentioned, A cyclonic circulation above mean sea level is lying over the southwest Bay of Bengal adjoining the equatorial Indian Ocean, off the south Sri Lanka coast.

A low pressure area would form over Southwest bay off Sri Lanka coast by tomorrow, 14th May.

Chennai Meteorological Centre official Mr, Balachandran informed that due to the prevalent thermal convection, it has been raining in a few places in Tamil Nadu.

The hottest season of the summer is called Agni Natchathiram. This began on 4th May. At this juncture rainfall occurred at a few places over interior Tamil Nadu and isolated rainfall occurred over Coastal Tamil Nadu.
