A few tips to prevent heart attacks and paralytic attacks

Posted on: 24/Jun/2016 2:06:26 PM
In the present age of a hectic lifestyle, heart attacks and paralytic attacks are the two most harmful diseases that cause maximum physical harm or even death.

So, we need to change our lifestyle to prevent these deadly diseases.
Here are 8 useful tips:
·         Never smoke – There are more than 4000 chemicals in the smoke generated by tobacco. Most of these chemicals harm the heart and the glands, which carry blood to the heart and the brain  The most important step in preventing heart/paralytic attacks is to stop smoking.

·         Reduce Fat – Fat-rich food items tend to increase the cholesterol and fat level in the blood through the deposit of fat in the glands. Though medicines can reduce the cholesterol level, the best remedy is to take a healthy, nutritious and balanced diet and do physical exercise regularly.

·         Daily physical exercise – Those who do regular (daily) physical exercise need not worry about the shape of their bodies. It is established that the chances of heart attack for the people who do daily physical exercises is only 50 percent as compared to those who do jobs sitting most of the time.Doing daily physical exercise not only prevents heart and cancer-related diseases but also reduce the risk of death. We can gain the physical fitness that is equivalent to those who are younger by 10 to 20 years.

·         Healthy body weight – Overweight increases the risk of high blood pressure, heart-related diseases and diabetes. Good diet and physical exercise combine to help reduce body weight. They help reduce blood pressure and the cholesterol level and thus prevent the chances of heart/paralytic attack.

·         Fibre-rich food – Food items like grains, pulses, dry peas, broad beans, fruits and vegetables contain 2 types of fibre – soluble and insoluble.Grains mostly contain insoluble fibre. This prevents the diseases like constipation diverticulosis (boils caused by liver inflammation in the food path). The insoluble fibre also prevents the risk of intestinal cancer. Oats, dry pulses, broad beans, fruits such as apple, orange, and grapefruit contain soluble fibre. This helps reduce the cholesterol level in the blood. Eating fibre-rich food has a strong link with the reduction in body weight.

·         Food rich in anti-oxidants – The oxidation process in the body cells can possibly lead to the onset of some diseases. The cells in the glands can help absorb the fat and the LTL cholesterol. Oxidation of cells is a natural phenomenon. However, the loss of oxygen increases the speed of fat deposit formation in the glands. This causes the production of anti-oxidants in th body. Some food items also contain anti-oxidants which prevent the loss due to oxidation of cells.

·         Keep a watch on the blood pressure – High blood pressure is one of the most important causes for heart/paralytic attacks. So, it is advisable to have frequent checks of blood pressure regularly 9once a year or once in 2 years). High blood pressure is linked to the medical condition, physical condition, and the medical history of the family,. Blood pressure can be checked at home itself. The equipment foror this is available in all pharmacies.

·         Reduce mental tension – There are very few tests available to establish the effect of mental tension on causing heart attacks. Another aspect is that it is rather difficult to quantify or define the extent of mental tension. An issue which causes mental tension to one person may happen to be a source of joy for another. Though some more extensive research is required on this topic, it is generally accepted that mental tension can be an important cause for heart attacks. It can be noted that in the rehabilitation centres for heart patients, managing and controlling mental tension is one of the important tools adopted in the treatment.
