This Chinese New Year, Golden Dragon at Taj Coromandel Chennai invites guests to usher in the Year of the Horse with a celebratory menu that pays homage to tradition, symbolism and refined Cantonese flavours. Associated with energy, progress, confidence and good fortune, the Year of the Horse is welcomed with a thoughtfully crafted dining experience that reflects prosperity and togetherness.

An icon on Chennai’s culinary map, Golden Dragon is widely regarded as one of the city’s finest Chinese restaurants, known for its authentic repertoire of Sichuan and Cantonese cuisine. To mark the Chinese New Year, the chefs at Golden Dragon present a special menu rooted in the rich heritage of Chinese cuisine. The specially curated menu opens with comforting bowls of Double Boiled Monkey Head Mushroom Broth infused with cilantro, carrots and sesame oil, and the robust Shi Hu Lamb Soup enriched with minced lamb, tomatoes and egg drop, followed by the delicate Chicken and vegetarian Shuijiao. The feast then unfolds with indulgent highlights like the robust flavours of Braised Duck with Chilli Bean, slow-cooked with garlic and sesame; and the crisp Pulled Duck Spring Rolls filled with roast duck shreds, blanched greens, garlic and sesame. Seafood takes centre stage with Tiger Prawns in XO sauce; and the exquisite Lobster with Ginger Scallion with Shaoxing rice wine and sesame. Guests can also enjoy Koi Rou, pork belly steamed with bok choy, soy and fresh red chillies; and Hang Zhou Tenderloin stir-fried with okra and young green chillies.

Guests can indulge in vegetarian specialities such as Kong Cin Chai, morning glory tossed with garlic and dry red chillies; and Silken Tofu in Fresh Chilli Sauce with coriander, garlic and fresh red chillies, alongside Steamed Longevity Noodles and the fragrant Moon Fan, jasmine rice delicately flavoured with Chinese five spice. The experience concludes on a refreshing note with Water Chestnut, fruit and Lotus Dim Sum, paired with a Pineapple Sweet Chilli Ice Cream; and the delicious Chocolate and Banana Cremeux with candied walnuts and salted caramel.

Complementing the festive menu is a thoughtfully crafted beverage selection. Signature cocktails include the Rose Mary Gin Fizz with gin, lime juice, sugar syrup soda and rosemary; Dragon Wall featuring vodka, homemade dragon fruit jam, jasmine tea and lime; and Cherry Moon, a vibrant blend of cherry vodka, grenadine and lemon-lime soda. For those preferring non-alcoholic indulgence, there are refreshing mocktails such as Cucumber Lemonade Huanggau with cucumber, lemongrass syrup, lime and lemonade;  and Lychee Delight combining lychee juice, passion fruit syrup and lime.

With its auspicious menu and timeless setting, Golden Dragon provides the perfect backdrop to welcome the Year of the Horse, celebrating new beginnings.
