Posted on: 08/Aug/2020 10:41:41 AM
The densely populated zones in the northern parts of Chennai had many Coronavirus cases in the past and GCC did superbly to bring down the cases. In the same manner, GCC fought hard to flatten the Coronavirus curve in the central Chennai zones too.

The news is GCC has been facing challenges in managing the spread of Coronavirus cases in the extended zones. These extended zones still report the same number of cases just like it had 15 days back.

It has been brought to light by the data from the Chennai Corporation that the Ambattur zone has been reporting more than 20 percent active COVID-19 cases every day. In the Anna Nagar zone, there has been a decrease of 6 percent in the number of active cases. In the last 15 days, the Valasaravakkam zone, an extended zone had around 15% of active cases.

Information is the Kodambakkm zone that is near the Valasaravakkam zone has managed to bring down the number of active cases to 11 percent. About 20% of active Corona cases were present in the Kodambakkam zone on 23rd July is well known.

Soon after the COVID-19 cases began to decrease in the north Chennai zones like Tondiarpet and Royapuram, central Chennai zones such as Kodambakkam, Teynampet, and Anna Nagar emerged as the new hotspots. Other extended zones like Manali and Tiruvottriyur have managed to keep the Corona cases to below 10.

On Thursday, zones like Madhavaram, Perungudi, Ambattur, Valasaravakkam, Alandur, and Sholinganallur reported 392 fresh Coronavirus positive cases and it grabbed the attention of many.
