Summer in late June & July has been quite scorching almost throughout Tamil Nadu and has been quite oppressive especially over the last 5 days.
Meteorological department has informed that there might be some respite from this heat in a couple of days when the temperature is likely to come down.
Meteorological centre officials explained that hot winds blowing from North & North-eastern directions and an absolutely clear and cloudless sky are attributed to be the main reasons for the excessive heat.
7 districts in Tamil Nadu recorded over 100 Degrees Fahrenheit including Vellore, Cuddalore, and Madurai. Nungambakkam, Chennai recorded a maximum of 105.25 Degrees Fahrenheit.
Puducherry recorded 105 Degrees. Cuddalore recorded 103 Degrees. Madurai recorded 102 Degrees. .Trichy & Palayamkottai recorded 101 Degrees.
