Necessary legal procedures for the same are initiated as informed by the central government minister for Environment, Mr. Prakash Javadekar.

Supreme court had banned the sport of Jallikkattu which has been traditionally practiced for the past several generations. Social services enthusiasts took the stand that bulls are included in the list of animals subjected to torment by humans and took it to the Supreme Court which banned the sport.

There was a very strong protest against this especially from south Tamil Nadu. The state government also took the initiative to request the central government to lift this ban.

Central Minister for Forest & Environment, Mr. Prakash javadekar had an interview with the press reporters. He was asked about the stand taken on removing bulls from the list of banned animal related activities.

The minister replied that this issue is being discussed with the Attorney-General. A suitable decision will be taken after this. Central government is keen that all celebrations without any harm to animals must be continued.
