Community certificates to be issued in schools

Posted on: 10/May/2016 12:48:00 PM
The important aspect required for a student is community certificate. So far the students and parents have to run to government offices to obtain this certificate. Now the Central Government has announced that the schools can issue these community certificates.

The Central Government has asked all states and union territories to issue caste and domicile certificates to students when they are studying in Class V or VIII.

The Government has taken this move because people have often complained of harassment allegedly by government officers in getting domicile and community certificates issued. Moreover there have been complaints of delay in grant of scholarship to students belonging to Scheduled community and Scheduled Tribes because of delay in getting caste and domicile certificates.

Normally the state governments or union territories will issue community and domicile certificates to the students.

Now as per the latest order of the Ministry of Personnel, the school head or Principal will get the documents collected from all the SC and ST students and also other than SC or ST students and arrange to submit them to the relevant state government authority or revenue authorities for making the requisite certificates. The concerned revenue or state government authorities may scrutinise those documents and may issue the relevant certificates within a period of 30-60 days.
