How to prepare for the counselling session for engineering courses?

Candidates who have given the call to attend counselling session for joining engineering courses are very likely to have many doubts and confusions!

Government buses offer 50% fare concession for the counselling candidate and his escort. It is enough to show the letter calling for counselling.
It would be ideal to reach the venue 2 hours before the appointed right time & date.
SC/ST candidates attending counselling session must pay a deposit fee of Rs. 1000/-. Other must pay a deposit fee of Rs. 5000/-.
5 counters are available in the counselling complex to make this payment and get the receipt.
It is planned to conduct 500 to 800 counselling session per day in 8 sessions daily.
Following counselling, the original certificates will be verified.If candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu had studied their 8th Standard up to +2 in other states, they have to show the permanent residence proof to avail the quota seat.
If a changed caste certificate is given the concerned candidates will be counselled in the general category.
If the original caste certificate is shown during the counselling, it may be possible to get the quota.
The counselling hall is equipped to seat 1000 people and a giant screen displaying details about names of colleges, available seats in different branches, etc. Only one escort will be allowed to enter the counselling session along with the candidate. There is no objection to carrying a cell-phone. However, the candidate is not permitted to use it.
Candidates will be called for counselling as per the rank list based on ‘cut-off’ mark. The candidate may select the college as per data shown by the computer with help of a computer operator. The candidate will not be allowed to go out to consult with people waiting outside or call them through cell-phone.
Candidate also cannot seek advice from the computer operator assistant.
The candidate can stake his time and select the college without any anxiety. But too much time cannot be taken. So, it is better to short-list the preferred colleges and then select 1 out of the final 3.
Once the selection is done by clicking on the computer, it cannot be changed afterwards.
