The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across Tamil Nadu has been completed, and the draft voter list will be released today at 2 PM. The publication will be carried out by Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik in Chennai.
The SIR exercise, which began on November 4, involved door-to-door verification by Booth Level Officers (BLOs). Despite challenges such as staff shortages and heavy workload, the process was completed after the deadline for submitting forms was extended twice, up to December 14, to ensure no eligible voter was left out.
Tamil Nadu has a total of 6,41,14,587 voters. Out of these, 6,41,13,221 forms were collected and uploaded. The verification process reviewed cases involving deceased voters, address changes, duplicate registrations, and untraceable voters, with necessary corrections incorporated.
The draft electoral roll will be available for public viewing on the websites of the Election Commission, the Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer, district collectorates, and local bodies. If any names have been removed, the reasons for deletion will be clearly mentioned.
Voters can submit objections or correction requests until January 18. Those who have shifted residence can apply using Form 8, while new voters can apply through Form 6 along with supporting documents. The final voter list will be published on February 14.
