Deadline for Pet Dog Licensing and Microchipping Extended Till December 14 in Chennai
The Chennai civic authorities have extended the deadline for obtaining pet dog licenses, rabies vaccination, and microchipping till December 14. Earlier, the deadline was set for December 7, but due to strong public response at special camps, the date has now been officially extended.
Thousands of pet owners have been visiting special camps across the city to get licenses, vaccinate their dogs against rabies, and install microchips. On Sunday alone, a special camp conducted at seven centers, including veterinary hospitals, covered 956 dogs, all of which received rabies vaccination, microchip implantation, and official licensing.
According to the Greater Chennai Corporation, a total of 96,056 pet dogs have been licensed so far within city limits. Officials stated that the extension was granted to ensure maximum compliance and public safety, especially to prevent the spread of rabies and to maintain proper pet identification.
Pet owners have been urged to utilize the extended deadline and complete the mandatory formalities before December 14 without fail.
