New Entrance with Escalator and Lift Opened at Wimco Nagar Metro Station
A new entrance equipped with an escalator and lift has been opened for public use at the Wimco Nagar Metro Station, improving accessibility and convenience for commuters.
The additional entry point has been set up along Tiruvottiyur Road and features modern facilities including a lift (elevator) and moving staircase (escalator), making it easier for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and school students to access the station.
The new entrance was formally inaugurated by local school students, highlighting the focus on community-friendly infrastructure. Senior officials from Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), including operations and maintenance leadership, were present at the event along with metro staff.
Officials stated that the new facility is part of Chennai Metro’s ongoing efforts to enhance passenger amenities and ensure safer, barrier-free access at metro stations.
