Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Chennai to Touch 40°C, Light Rain Forecast & Fishermen Warning Issued, Tamil Nadu weather today

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has forecast light rain at isolated places in the Western Ghats districts of Tamil Nadu due to variations in the westerly winds. Meanwhile, the rest of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are expected to experience predominantly dry weather.

For Chennai and its suburbs, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy. The maximum temperature is likely to range between 39°C and 40°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to be 29°C to 30°C. Residents may experience hot and humid conditions, leading to heat discomfort during the day.

Strong Wind Warning for Fishermen

The weather department has issued a fishermen advisory as strong winds are expected over several sea regions.

- Winds of 45–55 kmph, gusting up to 65 kmph, are likely over the Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar, and the adjoining Kanyakumari sea areas.

- Similar wind conditions are expected over parts of the South Bay of Bengal and the adjoining Central-East Bay of Bengal.

- Winds of 40–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, are also likely over nearby sea regions.

- Over the Central-East Arabian Sea adjoining the Central-West Arabian Sea, wind speeds may reach 45–55 kmph, with gusts up to 65 kmph.

Advisory

In view of the rough sea conditions, fishermen are advised not to venture into the affected sea areas until further notice. Residents are also advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours, and take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses.
